[aaykarbhavan] Modi Government's Railway Budget 2014



Union Railway Minister, Sadananda Gowda under the new Modi Government presented the Railway Budget for 2014-15 in Parliament on Tuesday, 8th July 2014.

 

New Initiatives

  • Railway ticketing system to be revamped. Plan to book 7000 tickets per minutes as compared to present 2000 tickets per minute.

  • We spend 94 paise on every one rupee earned

  • Bulk of future projects to be financed via PPP route

  • Seeking Cabinet nod to allow FDI in Railway Sector

  • Paperless office of Indian railways in 5 years. Digital reservation charts at stations

  • Will provide summer internships to undergraduate students from engineering background

  • Wi-Fi services to be introduced at all A-class stations

  • Internet & Workstation facilities on select trains

  • Ladies' coaches to be escorted by women RPF constables; additional care for ladies travelling alone

  • Mobile based wake-up call & updates for all passengers

  • CCTVs to be used at stations for monitoring cleanliness at railway stations; third party inspections to be introduced

  • To introduce bullet train between Mumbai - Ahmedabad

  • Mumbai local to get 860 new, state-of-the art coaches. 64 new EMUs to be introduced.
