It is true that now a days we can not expect the above to be practiced. However, let me bring some facts or situations before you - those who wish to vote to the members of coaching community - for a reading and understanding.
I am not against coaching by members or by any wing of our Institute
I am not against these persons
I respect them as individuals.
I submit that, in the past, certain regional councils or branches were running coaching classes.
Many of the present day owners of coaching institutes were part of such teacher community.
The fee charged by the wings of ICAI was affordable and people, across the state or region, were attending those classes.
Those times, the elected members were giving full respect to the coaching community and therefore the fee for classes was less, many members were giving coaching at institute platform only.
Times have changed
Elected members started ignoring or insulting these members - I can state few incidents.
Some members who were giving coaching at ICAI, decided to make more money because they got good name as teachers and now they need not have to be on ICAI platform.
To start a coaching institute, they invested and within no time, reached break even point and then ..................story continued.
With more than sufficient money in hand, the person who used to teach one subject earlier diversified into different subjects, not by himself but by hiring few others as a team.
Business prospered.
At the same time, parents and students wanted to qualify at any cost and therefore demand for coaching increased multi-fold where as supply was almost stagnant. This resulted in more money for those in coaching business.
Coaching institutes then openly started waging war against the classes of ICAI - they took away the so called good teachers from ICAI to their institutes offering money and more.
They killed the system of coaching classes by ICAI and ensured ICAI class rooms be converted as just reading rooms.
Simultaneously, few of the coaching business members wanted the next in line i.e. power. They understood the value of power possessed by elected representatives.
Thus started, contesting in the elections.................money is not a constraint and votes does come in volumes................few coaching businessman became CCMs.
These businessmen knows only one thing.............wanted only one thing....................increase of opportunities for coaching.......................this resulted in launching several schemes.....................foundation, CPT, IPCC etc and whatnot...............adding to this is parents & students greed to get qualification at the earliest...................
Then few of the coaching businessmen , one by one, became Presidents of ICAI...............let me tell you - the period of their rule was less than the average of the history till that date......................
Now, we have several coaching businessmen sitting at Central Council and their contribution is .............................nothing
I am told, many more are contesting in addition to the sitting in 2015........................and for sure can predict with all certainty, they will win and profession will lose.
I respect a teacher as a teacher only and will not allow him to manage my house because, house management is not his / her cup of tea - its mine
As a teacher or coach, let him do that job and I refuse to accept them to venture into this arena of Council where policy decisions are to be made and a clear vision is required...............these coaching people may have focus but what a council member requires is not just focus but vision.............
I narrate as belowA boy was chasing a ballhe has full concentration on thathis focus is totally on it
but while chasing, he could not understand the external circumstances............what happens.......is some accident...........
These coaching men, can not understand or forgot to look into how and where the profession is standing, what needs to be done etc.....................the result will be abysmal.
The profession is currently undergoing a period of severe image suffering and bad image. We need to elect few members who have vision, and a good listener

he who Delegate logically to various members of not just council but also to general membershe who is assertivehe who is with humility - accept mistakes or errorshe who has Perversenesshe who is flexible -when things or issues are complex, he must be harder than hardest rock on a mountain and if the situation requires softness, he must be softer than a lotus leafhe who is motivationalConfidence a mustHonesty to the coredemonstrate Will powermust be People focusand Visionary I submit that, we may not find a person with all the above qualities in one person.................but we must vote to a person who is
with visionwith couragewith Perversenesswith humilityif the above four are not in a person, however knowledgeable or intelligent he may be he should not be voted -
Finally, let me submit that, most of the current CCMs are just CCMs but not leaders..................please elect leaders to rule us...............
if you vote and elect a person who is not a leader, you will not get a chance again................before vote -select on various parameters.......................
please share this / forward this to one and all - members of ICAI - and thus help electing leaders who are cheerful but not elect cheer leaders or politicians
Finally, The President made a statement and Vice-President agreed to it by not condemning it
President stated that the limit imposed by Legislature is wrong when where there are 14,52,243 companies of all categories, the notification takes away or excludes 14,13,527 companies from the operation of the limit
the vision of current council is to award sufferings to SMP and VP calls himself a supporter of SMP - President joined Multi-national Accounting Firms Indian Affiliates
